Book-Book….

Got to read four books this past week. I first read Daniel Pink’s “A Whole New Mind” and “The Google Story” by David Vise. I started Barack Obama’s “The Audacity of Hope,” but only found three interesting chapters to read. The last two books that I read were “Too Small to Ignore” by Wess Stafford and “Three Cups of Tea” by Greg Mortenson. These two books were excellent reads.

“Too Small” is an autobiography by the president of Compassion International. He is the son of missionaries to Africa. He spoke of growing up “African,” and was able to share an insightful perspective and commentary on western society. He also revealed the heartbreak of abject poverty and in his own personal abuse. This book was very inspirational.

“Three Cups” is a biography of a mountain climber, who after receiving care and hospitality from a remote village in the Baltistan mountains, makes it his mission to build schools for their children. Obstacles faced were geographic isolation, economics, and the gaining of trust & acceptance from Islamic leaders. This is an incredible and inspirational story that will no doubt appear in theaters one day….
