Just picked up a travel guide to Australia with a Borders Gift Card. Yes, it looks like I’ll be going to Australia this summer after all! I’ll be a chaperone for the Kamehameha Schools’ JEM club.

JEM, the Joint Environmental Mission program is a collaboration of 10 schools around the world who’s mission is “to help children of all nations walk this earth together in balance with the environment.” The 10 middle schools are from Pennsylvania, Russia, India, China, Australia, Ecuador, Haiti, Hawai’i, Africa and France.

We’ll be staying in Melbourne, which is a bay city located on the southern coast. I read that the average temperature in July (their winter) is about 40 degrees. Oy! I better bring an extra pair of “daks” to keep my “bum” warm….
