I saw the most bizarre aloha shirt yesterday. Our middle school held its annual May Day Program this past Monday afternoon. Right after lunch, a student approached me in the hallway. He asked me if I thought his aloha shirt was all right. He pulled up his sweat jacket to reveal the most unbelievable aloha shirt ever. My jaw dropped, and my eyes nearly popped out! The pattern on his aloha shirt was of a drawing of a flower. Only thing, the flower was in the shape of a phallic symbol. There were hundreds of them! All over…. He was feeling self-concious. This was something you would only see on failblog.org.
I maintained my composure (and my p-p-p-poker face.) I asked, “Wh-what’s that?”
He answered, “It’s the puakenikeni flower.”
“Oh,” I said. “Looks good….”
Reassured, he ran down the stairs.
Where does one get a shirt like that? Apparently, you can find it at the Hasegawa General Store in Hana, Maui. (Unfortunately, photo unavailable.)
Our boarder students never cease to amaze me….
