The Saturday before Chinese New Year’s is always the biggest Chinatown celebration of the year. It’s called the Night in Chinatown Street Festival, and it’s always a lotta fun.

I was able to pass out reusable grocery bags to some of the festival attendees. This was to help promote our new city location as part of our soon-to-be launched Chinatown ministry called Revive. The bags were warmly received, and instantly put to good use.

The streets were closed off, and there were entertainment stages, vendors, and tons of street food.

I met up with good friends Sam & Jeannie for lunch. This is something that we had planned way back, after our medical missions trip to Thailand.

We went to K C Kitchen on the river side of the Chinese Cultural Plaza. This is Taiwanese style Beef Noodle Soup. So ono…. Because Sam & Jeannie knew the owner, we were treated.

We walked around and visited many of the stalls. I didn’t buy gau, but I had my gin dui and a bubble drink. Good times.

I stayed for the parade. It was good, but pretty long. I think there were too many politicians (although I didn’t mind this one….)

There was a lot of culture and pageantry. I even saw a couple of friends marching in the parade.

It was a great day. Will definitely be back again next year. 農曆新年!
