New Year’s Resolution, Hana Hou….

Yup, this New Year’s resolution is the same as the previous four (translation: fail.) Guess it’s soooo good, it deserves another hana hou (encore.) So here it is…. with a spin.my board

Instead of worrying about losing a specific amount of weight or getting into shape (a pear is a shape too,) I will just focus on living a more active lifestyle. I would like to swim, surf, hike, (and cook) regularly this year. After all, I live in Hawai’i. I should be at the beach or out-and-about. I live just a minute away from Ala Mo’s. So instead of recording poundage, I wanna monitor my weekly activity and fun. Yes, this is my resolution.

Gotta dust off my board. Looking forward to a healthy and happy 2013. Wishing you the same. God Bless!

New Year’s Resolution (Remix)

Today is December 26th. Time for another New Year’s Resolution. And like everyone else, my New Year’s Resolution will be the same as last year’s. In fact, mine will be the same as the past three years. Now I’ve tried to keep it simple by having only one goal (lose weight so that i can surf again.) This time, I need a plan….

No, this isn’t the plan. This is the roast from last night’s Christmas party. But the way I look at it, it’s motivation. Call it my “training table” if you will. Yes, I’ve put on a few pounds during this holiday season. Now I’m inspired to do something….

Yes, I would love to get into surfing again. But in order to do that, I need to fit into my board shorts. Here’s the plan:

1. Eat smarter. Diets don’t work. I just need to use common sense. I actually enjoy eating fresh food (as opposed to processed food) anyway, so this shouldn’t be a problem. I just need to cut-out the junk.

2. Exercise regularly. It’s unrealistic for me to join the UFC Gym in Kaka’ako. There’s no time. But, I have 24-hour access to a gym downstairs in my own building. I’ve only been in there once (to shoot a video.) I’m paying for it through my maintenance fee, so I’d better take advantage.

I moved to my present location to be near to the beach. Yet, I’ve been to Ala Mo’s only a few times in the past two years. I gotta get down there after work. It’s too convenient not to.

So that’s it. Good luck to you on your resolution. Remember, “Eddie Would Go….”

1/1/11: A New Year’s Resolution….

Hana hou….

Yes, my New Year’s Resolution is the same as last year’s. In fact, it’s the same as the year before. It’s to fit into my boardshorts and go surfing with bruddah N8 & bruddah Tim. It’s all about living healthy and having fun at the same time. Yup, my New Year’s Resolution is gonna be this one goal….again.

And this time, I mean it!

I plan to work out regularly & eat right daily. See y’all at the beach….

Another New Year’s Resolution….

….oh boy.

Yes, like everyone else, my New Year’s Resolution will be the same as last year’s.

Let me first repost Stephen Covey’s 8 tips on making a good one:
1. Think of your resolutions as goals. (They need to be measurable and have deadlines.)
2. Set only 1 or 2 realistic goals. (Three or more would have a diminishing effect.)
3. Write down your goals.
4. Take baby steps. (Break down goals into steps.)
5. Go public. (This blog should do it!)
6. Check your progress. (Keep score.)
7. Reward yourself.
8. If (when) you slip up, recommit.

This year I’m taking a different approach. Usually, I think of a goal as the “destination.” This time I’m making the goal the “process.” So here it is, my New Year’s Resolution for 2010….

1. Workout 3-4 times per week.

That’s it. Only one goal. 🙂 If I stick with this, everything else will fall into place. I’ll get back into shape (and fit back into my boardshorts) in no time.
And oh ya, this would be the “destination.”

My New Year’s Resolution….

Hey! It’s that time of year…. Here is my attempt at writing a New Year’s Resolution. But first, here are Stephen Covey’s 8 tips on making a good one:

OK. So here’s my New Year’s Resolution for 2009. Ta-dah….!
1. Surf w/ bruddah n8 & bruddah tim.

That’s it! Huh?? No really, that’s it! If I can go surfing this summer with Nate and Tim, then I would be happy. This would mean that I would have lost enough weight to fit into my surf shorts again. This also means that I would have made a healthy change to my lifestyle. Most of all, surfing is probably my all-time favorite hobby. Getting back into it would be so much fun. Hau’oli Makahiki Hou & Happy 2009! God Bless you guys….
