Fast & Furious….

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Honolulu and the Kamehameha Schools co-sponsor a program called Malama I Na Poki’i. This program matches a KS employee with an orphaned student in grades 4-6.

Today’s outing was a fun afternoon of box car racing at Race World Hawai’i in Kunia. Everyone had a blast. The toughest part was of course, pushing your box car back up the hill to race again. No, I did not win a single race. Obviously, I had a faulty car and the slow lane. But I’m not one to make excuses…. cough… ahem….

Ice, Ice, Baby….



Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Kamehameha Schools co-sponsor a program called Malama I Na Poki’i. This program matches a KS employee with an orphaned student in grades 4-6.

Today’s outing was at the Ice Palace, across from the Aloha Stadium. Everyone had a fun time. There were no casualties, although the older participants complained of sore ankles and sore feet. We gulped down too much pizza & Pepsi for lunch. We ended the day with Christmas games and give-aways. Ho, ho, ho….

Malama I Na Poki’i

Kamehameha Schools, along with Big Brothers Big Sisters co-sponsor a mentoring program for orphaned students in grades 4-6. We took them on a weekend outing to ‘Aiea Bowl. We had a blast, as well as surprisingly good pizza. My “poki’i” is a 5th grader named Joseph. He’s a left-handed pitcher for his baseball team and spends most of his time playing video games. Unfortunately, he did not attend today’s outing. I think he lost his permission form (for the 3rd time) and was too embarrassed to show up….
