My Truck….

I mean, I really love having a truck. You just can’t beat it. I’ve taken it all over the island. I’ve packed surfboards, golf clubs, fishing poles, co-workers, and even Tris & Tiana & their friends in the back of this pickup. I’ve even transported KS students from ‘Akahi to Midkiff.

Now here’s the downside. The Toyota website claims that the Tacoma gets 16/20 miles per gallon (city/hwy.) This really means that I am getting 16 miles to the gallon when the wind is at my back. Yikes!

I try to comfort myself by saying, “You never know when you might need to haul that big ulua….”

Slide Show Story….

Our 6th graders had their end-of-the-year banquet on Tuesday. I was happy to help them with their slide show. Each student was required to scan an old school photo to contribute to the slide show.

Now, there’s this group of 6th graders who regularly visit me after school. (They always mark up my dry-erase board and raid my secret food stash.) They’re a fun bunch. Unfortunately, they got into big trouble on Monday and were not allowed to attend the banquet.

Three of them came by after school today to visit. Feeling sorry for them, I showed them the slide show which was still on my computer. It wouldn’t be the same “magical” experience as viewing the show on a big screen in a darkened auditorium with classmates. That’s what I presumed….

The three best friends started to tear up. I was blown away. Anyway, this is a picture that one of them had scanned in class.

KS Biathlon

Kamehameha High School held its annual biathlon this morning at Ala Moana Beach. Sophomores were required to swim half-a-mile and run 4 miles. Yikes! Freshmen had a choice of either a mile-and-a-half swim or a 6-mile run.

My volunteer duty was to videotape footage of the event for the PE department. My legs were sore from just bending down….

Reunion at Bravo’s….

Got together with my former grade level for dinner at Bravo’s in the Pearlridge Center. We taught 4th grade together at Kapolei Elementary. We were always a very close-knit team.

We had a great time talking and catching up on the latest. Hopefully, we’ll be able to take the time to do this more often. I had forgotten how much I miss them….
