This is my 3rd summer as a participant in the Punahou Technology Lab School. I have learned so much and have made many friends over the years. Admittedly, I especially look forward to eating their cookies each summer. They’re that good! I probably had four or five this week. (They’re pretty big….takes two hands to eat them.) Mmm….so good!
Grillin’ & Chillin’….
….at Russell & Donna’s tonight. Had a great time catching up w/ the old college gang. Got to talk-story, enjoy fresh-brewed iced tea on a summer night, and view digital photos of New York & New Hampshire. Had the best time….
Here’s their homemade rotisserie cooking up some of the juiciest chickens. Mmm….so good….
Got Mail….
….from my sponsored child today. It was buried beneath a stack of bills. Her letters are a true blessing! My sponsored child lives in the Philippines. She attends Daily Vacation Bible School at the Compassion project during the summer. She always sends me a scripture and tells me that she has been praying for me. How’s that?! I absolutely adore her.
Please sponsor a needy child through Compassion. You won’t regret it….
Mauna Kea Trip
The Kamehameha Schools Hawaiian Astronomy summer school class visited the Big Island last Tuesday-Thursday. We stayed at the Kamehameha Schools-Hawai’i Campus. Activities included the ‘Imiloa Astronomy Center of Hawai’i, telescope building, presentations by astronomers, and a night visit to the Mauna Kea Visitor Information Station(a.k.a. the Onizuka Center for International Astronomy, and a.k.a. Pohakuloa.) It was cloudy and misty until it was time to leave. Then the skies cleared. The stars were spectacular! The students and teachers had a wonderful experience.

“Did anyone see my camera?….Heyyyy!!!”
My Truck….
I mean, I really love having a truck. You just can’t beat it. I’ve taken it all over the island. I’ve packed surfboards, golf clubs, fishing poles, co-workers, and even Tris & Tiana & their friends in the back of this pickup. I’ve even transported KS students from ‘Akahi to Midkiff.
Now here’s the downside. The Toyota website claims that the Tacoma gets 16/20 miles per gallon (city/hwy.) This really means that I am getting 16 miles to the gallon when the wind is at my back. Yikes!
I try to comfort myself by saying, “You never know when you might need to haul that big ulua….”
