Tying the Knot

Congrats to two of the Bishop Brothers for “tying the knot!”
No, they didn’t marry each other. Hehe. But they got married on consecutive Saturdays.

The team celebrated at Kikuya’s. (We’re becoming regulars there.)

For Timo’s “bachelor party,” we went golfing at Bay View. The weather was perfect. We had an absolute blast.

We had dinner at the Signature Steak & Seafood Restaurant at the top of the Ala Moana Hotel. I guess you could call this a “salad,” except that the green(s) are on top of the meat and not underneath….
All kidding aside, the bone-in ribeye was winnahs!

Meanwhile, Kimble was in Kona getting married on the beach. What an amazingly awesome picture!

So happy for Tim & Roseann and Kimble & Naho!!

Now three of the four Bishop Boys are married (just me left.)
Peer pressure? Haha. Nah.

“Bishop Innovation Center”

Our high school EdTech team, a.k.a. the “Bishop Boys,” are housed in Bishop 200. It is the most secluded place on campus. In fact, I refer to our office as “the place where they hide all the ugly people.”

It is also sterile and uninspiring. It looks like a storage room, but with student portraits on the walls. We decided to fix up our office in preparation for the upcoming school year. We called this one-day makeover, “Reimagine | Redesign | Reinspire.” I found a few resource links and shared a YouTube video of “Casey Neistat’s Wildly Functional Studio” for inspiration. Here are a few of the elements that we wanted to incorporate into our workspace:

• declutter
• natural light (no, not the cheap beer.)
• a new floor plan / flow
• flexibility
• a collaboration space
• a PLAY area
• writable surfaces
• music

We painted the closet doors with chalkboard paint. We painted them green on the inside to do green screen filming. We also mounted a large dry erase board.

We created a collaboration space by rearranging existing furniture, and making it the focal point of the room.

We added adjustable gymnastic rings for exercise.

We hope that our redesigned workspace will inspire creativity. Grand opening of the  Bishop Innovation Center coming soon! Chee-hoo!

Feeling much more inspired now.
Our next phase will be to remodel the kitchen area. Crock-pot Wednesdays will never be the same….

A new tradition has begun, Crock-Pot Wednesdays! Each week, someone comes up with the recipe & grocery list. We crank up the crock-pot early Wednesday morning in our office (a.k.a the “Frat House”) before heading off to our appointments.

We’re greeted at noon by the most incredible aroma! It’s like magic. So far, every dish has been “winnahs.”

But this blog post is about more than just that. I’m blessed to work with such an amazing team (brothers.)

Tim is our captain, an outdoorsman, surfer, triathlete, the “pride of Damien Memorial,” and an all-around awesome person.

Lance is the math wiz, devoted family man, fisherman, 80s R&B fan, and the nicest guy in Honolulu.

Kimble is the consummate writer, musician, skateboarder, the “life of the party,” and is way cooler than you & I could ever hope to be….

Of course these descriptions fall short. Extremely blessed to be working with these knuckleheads.
