Too Cool….

Two cool new places recently opened nearby. Lucy’s Lab is one block down from 909 on Kamake’e Street.

This shop has really cool flavors! I’ve tried the Sea Salt Caramel one. So ono! This is the Bacon & Whiskey flavor that I had at tonight’s grand opening. It was amazing as well. Only problem is  that it’s a little too convenient for me. Hehe.

Here’s part of the line that went outside the door at tonight’s grand opening. Mean….

The other new place is Mr. Tea Café. Talk about convenient, this café is in my building! Extremely happy! It’s also one of the better bubble tea shops around. I really like the milk teas here. The owner painstakingly prepares the boba in small batches, so it’s always fresh.

They have macarons! They get them from La Tour Café.

Very happy and content. Two cool places. Too cool….

Chow, Fun, & Chun….

It’s been a tradition to “bid aloha to summer” at the annual Chun fam camp at Kualoa Beach Park. Every August, friends gather at Camp Site “A” for good food, good friends, and good fun.

The pavilion is well-equipped with a full kitchen, ice machine, walk-in freezer, and overnight security.

Jan made spam musubis! We had spaghetti and corn-on-the-cob for lunch.

The views here are breathtaking.

Here’s a pano of the beach. The kids were able to go fishing, kayaking, and stand-up paddle surfing.

Cigar smoke always fills the air at camp! Here’s Bobbie’s stash of sticks.

I got to bust out the ol’ Martin.

I left before dinner, but heard that Lordric & Sarah’s grilled “Rolled Steak” a.k.a. the “Caterpillar” was awesome.
Had a great time! Blessed with amazing friends….

2 Campuses

Doubly blessed. I’ll be working at two campuses this year. Along with Kapālama Campus, I’ll be traveling to the Kea`au Campus on the Big Island each week.

Hawai’i Campus is a great place with amazing people. It will be exciting to share and to learn here.

Specifically, I’ll be servicing the middle school with the awesome @elliemellie. We’ll be providing support, PD, and “everything else.”

I’ll be commuting every week and earning a bunch of HawaiianMiles. No traffic….

Here’s my “home away from home,” the Hilo Hawaiian.

The views are great. I’ll be relaxing at the Liliʻuokalani Gardens and sampling all the local restaurants in Hilo with my per diem.

Breakfast will be early, so Ken’s and Kuhio Grille will be my go-to places.

Looking forward to an amazing school year! Imua….

Popcorn & Mochi Crunch

Summer time is all about the sun, the surf, and blockbuster movies! And I’ve enjoyed going to the movies since “small kid time.”

So it’s nice that the Ward Stadium Theatres are only three blocks away from my condo.

Dinner is always at Buca di Beppo. We usually have the Spicy Arrabbiata pizza. So ono….

It’s just a time to relax and have fun. Whether the movie is good or not, we always have a blast. Thumbs up….

“Bishop Innovation Center”

Our high school EdTech team, a.k.a. the “Bishop Boys,” are housed in Bishop 200. It is the most secluded place on campus. In fact, I refer to our office as “the place where they hide all the ugly people.”

It is also sterile and uninspiring. It looks like a storage room, but with student portraits on the walls. We decided to fix up our office in preparation for the upcoming school year. We called this one-day makeover, “Reimagine | Redesign | Reinspire.” I found a few resource links and shared a YouTube video of “Casey Neistat’s Wildly Functional Studio” for inspiration. Here are a few of the elements that we wanted to incorporate into our workspace:

• declutter
• natural light (no, not the cheap beer.)
• a new floor plan / flow
• flexibility
• a collaboration space
• a PLAY area
• writable surfaces
• music

#BishopBoys

After….

We painted the closet doors with chalkboard paint. We painted them green on the inside to do green screen filming. We also mounted a large dry erase board.

We created a collaboration space by rearranging existing furniture, and making it the focal point of the room.

We added adjustable gymnastic rings for exercise.

We hope that our redesigned workspace will inspire creativity. Grand opening of the  Bishop Innovation Center coming soon! Chee-hoo!

Feeling much more inspired now.
Our next phase will be to remodel the kitchen area. Crock-pot Wednesdays will never be the same….
